  • Have fun in a positive, sportsman-like manner for the duration of the competition! As with any Y4 Ranch event, we pride ourselves in providing a family friendly atmosphere.

  • You must leave the exit gate with a smile, regardless of your performance!

  • We will not support unsportsman-like conduct, abuse or neglect to animals, or poor attitudes.

  • $250.00 per cowgirl.  Entries available on this website February 5, 2012. 2012 SYTYAC Entry Form  Email y4ranch123@msn.com for additional information. Entries will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.  Entries must be complete with a signed release form, a photo of you and your horse, and check made out to Karen Young to be accepted. $100.00 NSF charge.  A waiting list will be held in case a girl should draw out of the competition.  If you draw out of the competition after August 1, 2012, half of your fees will be reimbursed to you. The remaining half will be donated to the average jackpot. Mail entries to Karen Young at Y4 Ranch, 338 NE Eby Avenue, Terrebonne, OR, 97760.

  • You must use the same horse for the entire competition.  The horse may be tagged at the Calcutta.  Effective for 2012: If you have won this competition once, you may still enter with a different horse.

  • 5 Rounds of each event. (In 2011 we ran 30 girls in less than 3 hours, which included an arena work.)

  • Each cowgirl will receive one run of each event to complete a round before the next round can begin.

  • In the team roping events, a cowgirl may choose any partner she wishes.  The partner may be male or female and does not need to be entered in the competition.

  • In the event of a no-time, a 30 second penalty will be assessed in any event.  Penalties such as knocked over barrels, broken barriers or a leg catch cannot cause you to exceed the 30 second max out.

  • 30 second running clock max-out time in all events.

  • The order of cowgirls will be chosen prior to the Calcutta.  The order will rotate by 5 each event and each round throughout the competition.  Example:  If you are first out in the barrels, you will be 5th in the Heading, 10th in the Heeling, 15th in the Goat Tying, 20th in the Breakaway, then start round 2 as 25th in the Barrels and so on.

  • Your horse should have plenty of time to recover, as the arena will need to be watered and worked between each round.

  • Letting the "GIRLS" loose during the goat tying always produces a quick flag if Ben is flagging!  Ha Ha  Thanks Ben for all your help in 2009!

  • JACKPOT TEAM ROPING:  This is designed to treat all our men/family, who support these wonderful ladies to a fun time. To be eligible to participate, you must be a family member or significant other of a contestant, a sponsor, a member of the production team or worker, or helper (man who ropes for girl during competition).  If you do not fit one of these categories, yet want to rope, contact Ryan or Karen Young PRIOR to the start of the first round to see where you can volunteer your services, or donate to this wonderful event! We can always use extra hands to set up barrels, run cattle, work chute, work and water arena, etc.

AWARDS AND PAY-OFFS:

"So You Think You're a Cowgirl" is set up as an open jackpot for women. The 16 and under and 45 and older incentives was added later, with award only giveaways, for the competitors on each end of the age spectrum. • $200.00 to winner of each round.
